ECOC 2024

The Euro­pean Con­fe­rence on Opti­cal Com­mu­ni­ca­ti­on (ECOC) is Europe’s lea­ding con­fe­rence for opti­cal com­mu­ni­ca­ti­on tech­no­lo­gy and Next Gene­ra­ti­on Net­works (NGN) and is one of the world’s most renow­ned events in this field. With its focus on one of today’s most important growth mar­kets, ECOC brings tog­e­ther experts and mana­gers from sci­ence, rese­arch, and indus­try from all over the world. The com­bi­na­ti­on of exhi­bi­ti­on and con­fe­rence is ide­al for exchan­ging the latest deve­lo­p­ments and visi­ons for the future as well as for net­wor­king at an inter­na­tio­nal level.

 

In 2024, the ECOC Con­fe­rence cele­bra­ted its 50th anni­ver­sa­ry. In almost 30 years, the accom­pany­ing exhi­bi­ti­on has also deve­lo­ped into the lar­gest trade fair for opti­cal com­mu­ni­ca­ti­on in Euro­pe and the most important mee­ting place for decis­i­on-makers from the enti­re fiber optic com­mu­ni­ca­ti­on tech­no­lo­gy indus­try.  This is reason enough for SQuaD to have its own booth at the ECOC Exhi­bi­ti­on in its anni­ver­sa­ry year.

 

The exhi­bi­ti­on took place from 23 to 25 Sep­tem­ber at the Con­gress Cen­ter in Frank­furt am Main and under­li­ned its importance far bey­ond the bor­ders of Euro­pe with over 330 exhi­bi­tors, inclu­ding the PETRUS and QuN­ET pro­jects, and almost 6,000 inter­na­tio­nal visi­tors. A par­ti­cu­lar high­light was the exten­si­ve Mar­ket Focus pro­gram with 54 pre­sen­ta­ti­ons, three panel dis­cus­sions with some of the big­gest names in the indus­try and 21 Pro­duct Focus ses­si­ons with in-depth pre­sen­ta­ti­ons from the Open XR Forum, EPIC, IPEC, IOWN Glo­bal Forum and ITU.

 

For SQuaD, par­ti­ci­pa­ti­on in ECOC Exhi­bi­ti­on pro­vi­ded an excep­tio­nal oppor­tu­ni­ty to enga­ge with lea­ding com­pa­nies and experts from the glo­bal tele­com­mu­ni­ca­ti­ons indus­try. The dedi­ca­ted booth – deco­ra­ted with umbrel­las – was the per­fect plat­form to pre­sent the project’s acti­vi­ties and goals and to recei­ve direct feed­back from the com­mu­ni­ty. The diver­si­ty of inter­na­tio­nal guests in par­ti­cu­lar made it pos­si­ble to make valuable cont­acts, rai­se awa­re­ness of the umbrel­la pro­ject and gain deeper insights into glo­bal mar­ket trends. Over­all, the ECOC was an high­ly suc­cessful event that pro­vi­ded ground­brea­king insights from which stake­hol­ders from sci­ence, rese­arch, and indus­try can bene­fit for a long time.
