Open Inno­va­ti­on – Open Tools for Rese­arch and Tea­ching

Announce­ment for the Fun­ding of Pro­jects on the Sub­ject “Open Inno­va­ti­on – Open Tools for Rese­arch and Tea­ching”:

The Bun­des­mi­nis­te­ri­um für For­schung, Tech­no­lo­gie und Raum­fahrt (BMFTR) intends to sup­port the the­ma­tic area “Open Inno­va­ti­on – Open Tools for Rese­arch and Tea­ching within the rese­arch pro­gram “Quan­ten­sys­te­me – Spit­zen­tech­no­lo­gie ent­wi­ckeln. Zukunft gestal­ten“. The fun­ding will focus on pre-com­pe­ti­ti­ve R&D pro­jects that lead to new or fun­da­men­tal­ly impro­ved open tools. The term ‘tools’ refers both to open-source hard­ware and to the pro­vi­si­on of sui­ta­ble open inter­faces or deve­lo­p­ment tools for cor­re­spon­ding com­pon­ents and soft­ware for hard­ware and set­up design, as well as their use. Low-cost and free­ly acces­si­ble tools can and should faci­li­ta­te edu­ca­ti­on in Quan­tum Tech­no­lo­gies and col­la­bo­ra­ti­on bet­ween dif­fe­rent insti­tu­ti­ons and disci­pli­nes, and enable open inno­va­ti­on bey­ond Quan­tum Tech­no­lo­gies. Easier and unrest­ric­ted access makes it pos­si­ble to gain hands-on expe­ri­ence with Quan­tum Tech­no­lo­gies, ther­eby signi­fi­cant­ly enhan­cing rese­arch and tech­no­lo­gi­cal capa­bi­li­ties.
