Quantum-safe Cryptography based on QKD: ID Quantique achieves Security Approval in South Korea

South Korea certifies Clavis XG as the first QKD Cryptographic System:

The Clavis XG series QKD system based on the BB84 protocol from the Swiss company ID Quantique (IDQ) is the world’s first product in its class to receive official national security approval from the South Korean National Intelligence Service (NIS). The certification establishes Clavis XG as a quantum-safe cryptographic system that meets strict national security standards. To receive the certification, the product had to pass rigorous assessments by the National Security Research Institute (NSRI).

The QKD evaluation process of Clavis XG included a detailed evaluation of the QKD system and its embedded Quantum Key Management (QKMS) platform Clarion KX. The security tests and validation were developed jointly with the South Korean Ministry of Science and ICT, and the validation was carried out in cooperation with several renowned institutions such as the NSRI and the Korea Information and Communication Technology Association (KICTA). The rigorous requirements of the certification process included comprehensive testing of Clavis XG’s optical and digital subsystems as well as the software stack and protocols of the embedded QKMS Clarion KX. Click here for more information on the certification.
