Work­shop on “Deve­lo­ping a Per­spec­ti­ve: QTF-Back­bone

Work­shop on the Deve­lo­p­ment of a Ger­man QTF-Back­bone:

To sup­port “Deve­lo­ping a per­spec­ti­ve” for the “QTF-Back­bone”, an opti­cal fiber back­bone for simul­ta­neous Quan­tum Com­mu­ni­ca­ti­on and Time and Fre­quen­cy Dis­tri­bu­ti­on, a work­shop was held at the Phy­si­ka­lisch-Tech­ni­sche Bun­des­an­stalt (PTB) in Braun­schweig on 11 and 12 Novem­ber 2024. The work­shop brought tog­e­ther ca. 50 stake­hol­ders from the Ger­man user com­mu­ni­ty. Two inter­na­tio­nal guests, Chris­ti­an Char­don­net and Davi­de Calo­ni­co, high­ligh­ted well the signi­fi­can­ce of a Ger­man QTF-Back­bone with talks on the R&D opti­cal fiber back­bones in France and Ita­ly, cor­re­spon­din­gly.

The work­shop was a suc­cess in sti­mu­la­ting, on the one hand, insights into and fur­ther deve­lo­p­ment of sci­en­ti­fic and indus­try use cases of the QTF-Back­bone by the user com­mu­ni­ty. On the other hand, sti­mu­la­ting the fur­ther deve­lo­p­ment of the per­spec­ti­ve needs of the user com­mu­ni­ty, e.g. con­cer­ning ques­ti­ons of topo­lo­gy, tech­ni­cal struc­tu­re, gover­nan­ce, ope­ra­ti­on, inte­gra­ti­on of the sta­te initia­ti­ves for fiber net­works and rele­van­ce to the Euro­pean R&D net­works.
