Community meets for Professional Exchange in Florence:

On 28 February the Squad Workshop on Quantum Communications organized by the Quantum Business Network (QBN) was hosted by the Quantum Telecommunications Italy (QTI) together with the National Institute of Optics (CNR-INO) in the historic home of Galileo Galilei in Florence. The main topics reviewed by experts from the European Quantum Ecosystem were the current status of QCom integration into existing telecommunication infrastructure and the crucial challenges related to implementation vulnerabilities of QKD systems.

Participants got insights into Quantum Strategies by Ettore Marchesoni (NATO) and Francesco Saverio Cataliotti (CNR-INO), coupled with industry talks by Christian Schmitz (evolutionQ), Tommaso Occhipinti (QTI), Ulrich Seyfarth (BearingPoint) and a panel discussion on the integration of QCom into existing infrastructures by Giampaolo Panariello (Nokia), Marc Kaplan (VeriQloud) and Anna Beata Kalisz Hedegaard (QuantumPrime), moderated by Davide Bacco (QTI), and a very interactive session on the topic of eavesdropping in QCom by Vadim Makarov (Vigo Quantum Communication Center), Tara Cubel Liebisch (PTB), Luminita Mihaila (BSI) and Nitin Jain (Technical University of Denmark & Alea Quantum Technology). The workshop was closed with a deep-dive session on certification of a QKD system against implementation loopholes by Vadim Makarov and Trojen-horse attacks and countermeasures by Nitin Jain.
